Granulation
Since our inception, granulation capabilities have set Deseret Laboratories apart from our competitors—including fluid-bed granulation, high-shear granulation, enteric coating, and even drink mix instantization. Granulation is the transformation of fine powders to larger particles (i.e., granules). Without proper granulation, tablets would not compress properly nor would powdered drink mixes effectively dissolve. Our team granulates over 16,000 kilograms per day using our suite of high-shear and fluid-bed granulators.
Milling
Raw materials are supplied in many different forms—including fine powders, granules, crystals, dried botanicals, freeze dried fruits and vegetables, and vitamin extracts. Particles of different sizes tend to segregate when agitated. To counteract potential segregation, we break down larger particles using Fitzmills, cone mills or oscillator machines. Our milling techniques optimize particle sizes and ensures a homogeneous delivery of each ingredient in every dose.
Blending
Blending is an extremely important step in the manufacturing of nutraceutical and pharmaceutical products. Just as the sequence and methods employed in making your favorite at-home recipe plays a big role in how your dish turns out, it is critical that the blending of raw materials follows a precise and repeatable process. We follow meticulous blending procedures, employing “V” blenders and tote blenders to ensure that you receive consistent quality products whether your blend is 50 kg or 1200 kg.
Tableting
We produce millions of tablets every day in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Whether you are looking for a round, caplet, oval, animal shaped, or your own customized and embossed tablet, our state-of-the-art suite of tablet presses are capable of producing hundreds of thousands of tablets every hour. If you would like a bi-layered, chewable, rapid dissolving, or effervescent tablet, we have the solution for you.
Coating
With the exception of chewable, rapid dissolving, and effervescent tablets, most tablets are coated to mask odor and/or taste and to make them easier for customers to swallow. This coating can be clear or colored, and can provide an enteric coating when it is desirable to delay their dissolution until they reach the intestines. Our advanced coating techniques adhere to current good manufacturing processes (cGMPs) and provide a beautiful finish to your tablets.
Encapsulation
If your desired dosage form is encapsulation, we again apply our many years of experience to provide you with defect-free encapsulation of the highest quality. These capsules can be clear, colored, or multi-colored, in your choice of HPMC, bovine, or porcine capsules in all sizes. Here again, strict attention is given to ensure that your product is produced in accordance with cGMPs. We can also provide kosher, halal, and/or organic product certification. Soft gel capsules are also available for those looking for a liquid-filled solution.
Powder Packaging
Our powder packaging forms at Deseret Laboratories include tubs or jars, gusseted bags, stick packs, sachets, and more. Throughout your product’s formulation and powder packaging process, we monitor a variety of factors—including powder flow and density, moisture content, humidity, and more. Our modern powder-filling machinery is highly accurate. As with all of our production processes, every piece of equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between each product to avoid cross-contamination.
Solid Dose Packaging
Solid dosage (also known as oral solid dosage or OSD) is a product’s final, solid form. Capsules, tablets, and gummies are all examples of OSD forms. Once we’ve produced your product in its solid and final form, it’s ready to be packaged. Our most common forms of solid dose packaging include bottles, tubes, packets, and blister packaging. We’ll work arm-in-arm with you to craft the perfect packaging solution to meet your product goals and specifications.
